How it works
Laboratory work examines pathways associated with mitochondrial biogenesis. Molecular markers of this process are not the same as improved physical performance.
Simplified mechanism map. It does not represent a proven treatment outcome.
What the evidence can tell us
A randomized six-week study of 23 men reported changes in PGC-1α protein but no additional aerobic-performance or body-composition benefit. Larger, independent studies are needed.
Safety and important limits
Long-term safety and interaction data are limited. Findings from one formulation or small study cannot establish safety for every product.
