Methylfolate & Vitamin B12

Two distinct nutrient topics often grouped under the marketing phrase methylated vitamins.

How it works

Folate carries one-carbon units. Vitamin B12 supports methionine synthase and methylmalonyl-CoA metabolism. Methylfolate and methylcobalamin are specific forms, not a single universal formula.

Simplified mechanism map. It does not represent a proven treatment outcome.

What the evidence can tell us

Deficiency correction is established. Methylated forms are not automatically superior for every person or every outcome. Evaluate the nutrient, form and reason for use separately.

Safety and important limits

High folate intake can obscure the anemia of B12 deficiency while neurological injury continues. B12 status and medicine-related absorption issues may require clinical testing.

This is a learning guide, not a recommendation to begin a supplement. Baseline nutrition, medicines and health conditions affect what is appropriate.
