How it works

Research examines estrogen-metabolism biomarkers and related signaling. Changes in metabolite ratios are not proof of cancer prevention or universally improved hormone balance.

Simplified mechanism map. It does not represent a proven treatment outcome.

What the evidence can tell us

A randomized trial in people taking tamoxifen found biomarker changes and lower levels of some tamoxifen metabolites, including endoxifen. This raises interaction concerns rather than establishing a treatment benefit.

Safety and important limits

Do not add DIM to cancer treatment or hormonal therapy without the treating clinician's review. Concentrated supplements are not equivalent to eating vegetables.

This is a learning guide, not a recommendation to begin a supplement. Baseline nutrition, medicines and health conditions affect what is appropriate.
