Receptor, cell and animal evidence

Evidence reviewed September 13, 2026.

Research overview and identity

B7-33 is a single-chain derivative of human relaxin-2 designed to simplify a more complex two-chain hormone. Researchers use it to examine relaxin receptor signaling and fibrotic tissue remodeling.

Mechanism under investigation

The original work describes functionally selective activation of RXFP1-associated signaling. Responses depended on the cellular system, including receptor interactions and downstream ERK and matrix-remodeling activity. Receptor activity in a laboratory model is not proof of tissue repair in patients.

What the studies report

The development study reported prevention or reversal of fibrosis-related changes in rodent heart and lung models. A separate 2023 mouse cardiomyopathy study compared B7-33, relaxin and perindopril, reporting differences in fibrosis and other cardiovascular measurements under those experimental conditions. [1] [2]

Limits of the evidence

These studies support a preclinical research direction. They do not show that B7-33 is superior to established cardiovascular treatment in people. Species, injury model, timing, comparator exposure and measured endpoint all limit that interpretation; human efficacy and safety cannot be inferred from the rodent findings.

Matching research material to a paper

Check the material identity, formulation and analytical methods against the study methods. A product name or milligram amount alone does not demonstrate experimental equivalence. Published research does not establish the identity, purity or potency of a retail batch; batch-specific analytical documentation must be assessed separately.
