PEG-MGF
Quick summary
MGF with a polyethylene glycol chain attached to extend how long it stays in circulation. Research focus: IGF-1 splice variants and PEGylation. This page leads with SRP's low-and-slow starting dose.

Amino acid sequence (one-letter code): YQPPSTNKNTKSQRRKGSTFEEHK
Overview

Mechanism
PEGylation protects the MGF E-domain peptide from rapid breakdown.
Research areas
- IGF-1 splice variants
- PEGylation
Storage & reconstitution
Supplied as a freeze-dried (lyophilized) powder in a sealed vial. Unopened vials are generally kept cold and away from light. Labs usually reconstitute it with bacteriostatic or sterile water, letting the liquid run down the vial wall and swirling gently instead of shaking. The solution is then kept refrigerated.
Recommended starting dose (low and slow)
| Starting dose | Low end of the studied range: 200 mcg; 200 mcg; 200 mcg; 100 mcg. |
|---|---|
| Frequency | Reported schedules: 2–3x weekly, often post-training; 200–500mcg daily; Daily. Reported schedules vary. |
| Reconstitution | Examples: 2 mg vial + 2 mL bacteriostatic water = 1 mg/mL; 2 mg vial + 3 mL water = 0.67 mg/mL; 2mg vial + 3mL diluent (as listed). Different water volumes can be used; that only changes the draw volume, not the amount of peptide. storage note: Reconstituted: refrigerate, used within 4 weeks. |
Studied higher doses
Studies have used doses up to the amounts below. Higher doses can be dangerous. Whether a person can reach them safely depends on height, weight, activity level, training and pre-existing conditions. We recommend following the lower starting dose above, and contacting SRP with any questions.
| Highest amount reported in studies | Top of the studied range: 400 mcg; 500 mcg; 500 mcg; 200 mcg. These are range tops, not verified ceilings. Reported amounts vary by 2x or more. |

Frequently asked questions
What is PEG-MGF studied for?
In research it is studied for IGF-1 splice variants and PEGylation. PEGylation protects the MGF E-domain peptide from rapid breakdown.
How is PEG-MGF given in research?
Subcutaneous injection after reconstitution is the route most often described in research protocols. See the dosing frequency block on this page for how often.
What amount should a researcher start with?
This page lists SRP's low-and-slow starting dose in the Recommended starting dose section. Higher amounts that appear in studies are listed separately with their safety context. Start with the lower dose and contact SRP with any questions.
